Zenith Plasma TV P42W24B Review

If you’re looking for one of the new enhanced definition plasma televisions you won’t go wrong with the Zenith P42W24B 42in Plasma Television. A great picture at a reasonable price is what you’ll get with the P42W24B.

This model features a flat plasma screen with a sleek, well-styled cabinet. It mounts easily on the wall, and the reasonable size will not overwhelm your decorating. Of course, the 42in model is an enhanced definition television with “only” 852 x 480 pixels, falling just short of the technical requirements for HDTV, but the average consumer will still be quite impressed with the great picture and sound quality.

The contrast ratio of 1000:1 compares well to other much more expensive units. Other features include a sleep timer and picture in picture capability.

Like many of the plasma monitor models, you’ll need a tuner to operate with local television channels or cable signals, but a common VCR can do the trick if you don’t want to invest in a tuner right away. This display also lacks speakers, but with the abundance of home theater systems, this should not hold back the electronics enthusiast looking to upgrade to the new enhanced definition technology. Just hook up to your existing stereo or home theater system and you’re good to go.

At about $2300, the Zenith P42W24B compares favorably to most of the other units in the price range, providing superior picture quality and keeping the price low by not including fancy extras.
