Zenith Plasma TV P40V22 Review

I didn’t know a thing about the new flat screen TV’s when I decided I wanted one, so going with a good brand name seemed like a good idea. I never knew that there were so many types and styles of televisions out there, and the choice can be really daunting.

In looking at flat screens, I decided that I didn’t want anything bigger than about 40” since my living room is rather small. After reviewing several models, I decided on the Zenith P40V22 EDTV Plasma Television, and I’m really glad I did.

Zenith lives up to its reputation with the picture in this model. Even though it doesn’t qualify as HDTV, I can’t really tell the difference. It has a contrast ration of 500:1, and after looking at some of the higher end models with higher contrast ratios and higher price tags, I settled for this one. I am sure that there might be brighter pictures out there somewhere, but this one looks great in my home. The details are great and the contrast is very close to the ones that cost thousands more.

I did notice that the Intelligent Image Scaling that Zenith advertises works well, I have no discernable distortion on my screen and I have never noticed cropped edges on my movies. And it works in either the 4:3 or 16:9 mode, allowing me great viewing in either mode.

I was really concerned when I opened the box, thinking that it would be really hard to set up, but the connections seemed straight forward. I also liked that there is no fan, so I don’t have to listen to it run all night.

The best feature of the television is the automatic brightness adjustment. When the lighting in the room changes, the picture automatically adapts, which is a lifesaver for a non-technically inclined person like myself.

For ease of use and a great picture, I would recommend the Zenith P40V22 to anyone. Going with an industry leader has paid off!
