Looking to upgrade to the new High Definition technology? Don’t want to ruin your elegant décor? Try the Sharp Aquos flat screen tv PZ-50HV2U 50in HDTV ready Plasma Television. It looks great and the picture is phenomenal.

The 50” plasma screen is set in a great looking, elegant case and that won’t overwhelm your room. We’ve put the unit in a traditionally decorated family room and it looks just fine. Not too obtrusive and not overpowering. It doesn’t scream “modern” either. We’ve mounted the television on the wall, but it would work equally well on a table top. It only weighs about 87 pounds, so mounting it wasn’t too bad.

The display is HDTV ready, and we had to buy a separate receiver to pick up the HDTV signals, but one it was all hooked up the picture was absolutely out of this world. The contrast looks much more like a higher end model than 830:1. Sharp has great brightness as well, with a rating of 350 cd/m2. The colors are crisp and very well defined, and we noticed any wash out in different lighting situations.

The stereo system is more than adequate, but if you like really deep sound systems you can always hook it up to your home theater system. It wasn’t difficult.

I was extremely impressed with the picture quality on this unit, and it is well worth the $5200 we paid for it. The quality is comparable to units costing much more, and the enjoyment that we are getting from it is priceless.
